We’re not sure what’s “cruel” about the Cruel Winter Fest at the Beachland Ballroom unless it’s how long the show is probably going to run.
The all-local show is headlined by Akron’s Red Rose Panic, an interesting quintet that blends hip hop, jazz, rock & funk to create a distinctive sound of its own that incorporate improvisation onstage. It features band founders Luminari on vocals and ST1XX on guitar, along with bandmates drummer Sledge, bassist SMOKEFACE and keyboard player Lou.
Also on the bill are 2ssaint, Fits of Hail, Wet Magic, Mikey Silas of Apostle Jones, Tygko and between-set music provided by DJ MikeMike Dustyloops. Lots to listen to and lots to dance to as well.
Tickets are $15 in advance, $17 at the door.
