Guitarist Neil Zaza’s One Dark Night Returns to the Akron Civic Theatre

Fri 10/29 @ 8PM

It’s hard to believe that Northeast Ohio guitar virtuoso Neil Zaza once played in ordinary rock bands. Since leaving behind his eponymous melodic hard rock band in the early 90s, he’s built a world-wide reputation as an instrumentalist, clinician and recording artist who has toured in Asia, Europe and the U.S.

For years he put together a lavish holiday show called “One Silent Night,” sort of like a less schlocky version of Trans Siberian Orchestra, which will return this year on December 18 to Akron’s Goodyear Theater). Then, a few years ago, he started to develop an even MORE spectacular Halloween-connected show called “One Dark Night,” which he and his ensemble performed at the Akron Civic Theatre.

That’s back this year too as “Neil Zaza’s One Dark Night … A Rock Symphony of the Macabre.” It blends rock and classical sounds and motifs to create a huge sound that explores the nature of evil, using themes from composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Saint-Saëns and others, performed with a rock & roll intensity. It’s underpinned with a storyline that reveals the monster inside all of us.

I can’t wait! I’ve been to his last performance of One Dark Night and it was amazing as were all his performances that I’ve attended. Neil is so talented. His music is truly a work of art. I feel blessed that he lives right here in Northeast Ohio. He gives us bragging rights and so I encourage everyone to see this performance, you won’t be sorry you did!
