Cleveland Dragon Boat Festival Is Back in Lorain

Sat 9/18 @ 9AM

The Cleveland Dragon Boat Festival may have gone away for a year, as so many things did, but it’s back again at its new location at Riverside Park on the Black River in Lorain.

There the teams of 20 paddlers who have been practicing for weeks or months will take to the water, in their boats with the colorful carved dragon figureheads, propelled by a drummer, starting at 9am. While dragon boating is a Chinese tradition dating back thousands of years, it enjoyed a modern resurgence in the last 25 year with people of all backgrounds and ages benefiting from the chance to get outdoors, get some exercise and enjoy a sport that involves friendly teamwork.

Observers can watch the boats compete, while enjoying live music, edibles from food trucks and items from vendors.
