Those truck & heavy vehicle events sponsored by various park districts are always popular with kids who get to climb on service and construction vehicles and pretend they are out in the field moving boulders and fallen limbs.
Because of the pandemic, Summit Metro Parks is doing it differently this year. It’s hosting a “Find-A-Truck” scavenger hunt. The equipment will be placed at different locations such as Cascade Valley Metro Park, Goodyear Heights Metro Park, F. A. Seiberling Nature Realm and Sand Run Metro Park along Sand Run Parkway. Find such vehicles as a backhoe, a flatbed with a 1928 truck, a bucket truck ad two different types of dump trucks.
Participants can download a map and a checklist for kids to keep track as families go to the various locations. Unfortunately, touching and climbing on the vehicles isn’t allowed this year but you can pose in front of them and take a selfie.
