CMNH Artist/Activist Speaker Looks at Great Lakes Environmental Issues

Thu 8/19 @ 7PM

Describing someone as a “TikTok star,” as the Cleveland Museum of Natural History calls Geo Rutherford, doesn’t leave you expecting a lot of substance. But Rutherford, one of CMNH’s Conservation Symposium speakers and guest for their next DiscoverE program “On the Threshold of the Great Lakes,” is primarily an artist and activist whose prints, artist books and mixed-media works explore ideas around invasiveness, impermanence and the unseen in relation to the Great Lakes. She’s also a former high school art teacher, now based in Madison, Wisconsin.

Her DiscoverE program is will feature a family-friendly discussion of her work and especially her recent masters degree exhibition at the University of Wisconsin.
