Akron’s eclectic open mic event, the Electric Pressure Cooker Cabaret, put on by the Wandering Aesthetics, has been on hold for a year and a half. But now it returns for the first time since 2020 with another freewheeling edition, taking place at the Spicy Lamb Farm in Peninsula.
Almost anything goes at these four-hour events, which are open to performers of all genres, ages and levels of experience, generally attracting 15 or more performers and more than 50 onlookers. “Previous acts have included monologues, acoustic musicians, comedians, feats of strength, play readings, full rock bands, debates, experimental art, puppeteers, dancers, scenes from plays, improvisation, devised work, storytelling, and performance artists. But the sky’s the limit; no art is too taboo for the #EPCooker!” they say.
Join emcee Sarah Jones Saddleton for this comeback iteration, which is free for all (as well as a sort of free-for-all!). Artists can pre-register for a slot by phone by calling/texting 330.612.3090 or come at 7pm to sign up. Performances start at 8.
