In this photo from this year’s Cannes Film Festival in France, where Spike Lee was given the honor of being president of the juries that decided who the winners would be, Lee is seen wearing one of his more outrageous costumes. While Lee has made a habit of dressing outrageously over the years, at age 64 he’s beginning to come off a bit juvenile. He’s starting to look like the septuagenarians we see running around wearing their baseball cap backwards, or worse, with their trousers sagging.
Granted, as the most famous Black groundbreaking film director in history, he certainly is in the creative class. But does that mean he should, on a regular basis, flaunt all the rules of probity and good taste? Spike, grow up, will you? — you’re beginning to look somewhat foolish, given your age.
