Thu 7/8 @ 7:30PM
Cleveland jazz musician Darren Frate is known as a bass player’s bass player, someone whose musicianship can make your jaw drop with his facility on his electric bass.
Frate graduated from the noted Berklee College of Music in Boston before returning to his hometown, where he teaches and performs with ensembles such as Cellocentric, Guys with Guitars and his own Darren Frate Group, which will be performing at the BOP STOP this week in a hybrid in-person/livestream show.
He’ll be bringing some major musical firepower with him, including upright bass player Aidan Plank, drummer Dave Black, percussionist Dylan Moffit, sax player Dave Kaspar and trumpet player Daniel Spearman. They’ll be playing music from Frate’s recent album Resonance, as well as new music for a planned future release.
Tables for up to four people are $50. You can listen to the livestream for free on the BOP STOP’s Facebook page, and if you’re inclined make a donation here.
