City Club Forum on Public Square Talks Public Transportation

Tue 7/27 @ noon

Throughout the entire month of July, the City Club of Cleveland is bringing its Tuesday forums out into the open on Public Square so that a wider audience can enjoy discussions of topics of civic interest — for free.

This Tuesday’s topic is “Where We’re Headed (and How to Get There by Transit): The Future of the Greater Cleveland RTA,” and the guest is, appropriately, RTA general manager/CEO India L. Birdsong, who’ll be interviewed by Ideastream’s Rick Jackson.

They’ll talk about how important public transportation is in getting people to jobs, school, shopping and doctor appointments and in reducing pollution in urban areas, and how little the state of Ohio commits to public transportation, given its car-oriented mindset. They’ll also talk about the recently rolled-up “Next Gen RTA” which made changes to many routes, allegedly to make the system easier and more efficient to use and reduce the need for transfers.

The forum will also be livestreamed of the City Club’s Facebook page. If you have a question tweet it to @TheCityClub or text 330-541-5794. In case of rain the forum will be moved to Old Stone Church on Public Square.
