One of the great things about Cleveland is its proximity to Lake Erie, and in the summer, locals make maximum use of it, fishing, swimming, jetskiing, rowing, boating. On any nice day you’ll find dozens of paddleboarders and kayakers mixing it up with the sailboats and motorboats.
The 7th annual Whiskey Island Paddlefest gives those kayakers and paddleboarders the chance to pit themselves against others to see how good they really are or just to challenge themselves, with a two-mile challenge or six-mile elite race, with a course that’s suited for both beginners and experts. There are races tailored for youth (9-11) and kids (6-8_) as well, so the whole family can take part. The top three finishers in each category will get a medal and for the two-mile and six-mile races there will be male and female categories. But the emphasis is on fun.
