Thu 7/1-Sat 7/3 @ Thu 7/8 & Fri 7/9 @ 7PM
For actors, this has got to be one of the most exhilarating feelings possible: getting to perform again in front of a live audience. That’s what Cleveland Public Theatre is doing with a summer of free, outdoor performances, celebrating its return to live performing.
It kicks off this week with a workshop production of Panther Women: An Army for the Liberation, written and directed by CPT’s India Nicole Burton. It tells the story of three women who were active in the Black Panther Party, using them as a prism to look at the experiences of Black women in America and in the Black Liberation Movement.
The performances will take place on an outdoor stage between CPT’s Parish Hall and Church buildings, just east of their theaters. You don’t have to make a reservation; just show up and grab a seat; CPT is providing chairs and blankets so you don’t need to bring anything but yourself.
