Jazz Sax Player Bob Selvaggio Streams His New Band’s Debut from the BOP STOP

Fri 5/28 @ 8PM

Alto jazz sax player Bobby Selvaggio is one of the cornerstones of the northeast Ohio jazz scene. He’s Director of Jazz Studies at Kent State University where he got his bachelor’s degree before moving on to New York City to study and perform. He ultimately returned to his hometown, where he continues to perform and record with a variety of ensembles, while also teaching. He’s always got a new thing in the works, whether it’s a new group of musicians, a new record, new compositions or new arrangements.

He’ll be debuting his latest “thing,” a new group called the Reframing Experience Project, at the BOP STOP this week. In addition to Selvaggio, it features trumpeter Tommy Lehman, bassist Aidan Plank, drummer Anthony Taddeo and pianist Joey Skoch.

While in-person tickets have sold out, the concert will be livestreamed on the BOP STOP’s Facebook page, thanks to its recently installed streaming studio, which lets them share all their concerts with a larger audience than they can fit into the club. The stream is free to watch but if you like what you hear, you can make a donation to the performers here.
