Artist Susie Frazier is known for her uplifting nature-based art intended to give people an emotional, mental and spiritual boost. But she’s also known for her entrepreneurial spirit, exploring and coming up with new ideas such as a TV series, a book and a maker event at 78th Street Studios, where her studio and shop are located. In fact, she was one of the space’s pioneering artists who helped turn it into the artist/gallery hive it is now.
Late last year, she debuted her pandemic-inspired app called Maker Town, which aimed to help keep members of the creative community afloat in the absence of the ubiquitous makers’ markets by aggregating and listing northeast Ohio makers, galleries and vendors and making them easily searchable to potential shoppers.
But as life slowly returns to normal, Frazier knows we’re eager to go out and hold those distinctive artisan items in our hands and talk face-to-face with the people who made them. And with the Cleveland Flea gone (it announced its closing before the pandemic hit), there’s room for another market — so she’s launching the Maker Town Markets in Hingetown at the Vibe Garden at the corner of West 28th Street and Church Avenue.
They’ll take place every Sunday from May 30-September 26 @ 11am-4pm. “Applications are now open to makers who sell jewelry, wall art, home décor, fashion, furniture, wellness goods, paper products and pet products,” she says.
