CityMusic Cleveland continues its year-long celebration of women composers, its salute to the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment which gave women in the U.S. the right to vote.
It’s also saluting youthful, modern talent. This Sunday its concert at the Shrine Church of St. Stanislaus in Slavic Village will feature Han, written in 2016 by 30-year-old Korean composer/pianist Jungyoon Wie, who earned her bachelor of music degree at The College of Wooster in Ohio. The rising young composer’s work is paired with the 1895 Clarinet Quintet in F sharp minor by Afro-British composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, highlighting yet another minority underrepresented on traditional concert stages.
Musicians include violinists Miho Hashizume and Catherine Cosbey, violist Eric Wang, cellist Sophie Benn and clarinetist Dan Gilbert (not the owner of the Cavs!) RSVP for the in-person concert here.
