Artist Talk Concludes moCa’s Online Silent Auction

Tue 5/4 @ 6PM

MoCa Cleveland presents the second of its two artist talks, this one featuring two Chicago-based artists Tony Lewis and Chicago-born, New York-based Torkwase Dyson, who’ll talk about the impetus and processes behind their work, how the pandemic year affected them and why art matters.

Lewis uses graphic powder in site-specific floor drawings to address topics such as race, power, communication and labor, manipulating his medium across both handmade and found surfaces. Dyson looks at the through line connecting ecology, infrastructure and architecture in abstract works that focus on how black and brown bodies interact with space.

The talk signals the conclusion of moCa’s online fundraiser art auction. It’s free.
