Verb Ballet Virtual Program Features Dancers in Solo Roles

Fri 2/26 @ 7PM

It’s been a tough year for performing arts organizations. Not only can’t they invite audiences into their often small & close spaces, but performers — actors, dancers, musicians — haven’t been able to gather in a room to rehearse together.

Cleveland-based Verb Ballets worked around that for their upcoming virtual program called Going Solo, in which each of its dancers has a solo role. Among the pieces to be performed are José Limón’s Dances for Isadora, a series of solos honoring the influential modern dancer Isadora Duncan and first performed at the Cleveland Museum of Art in 1971.

The diverse program will also feature solo female variations from the ballet Paquita, a Spanish Hota, performed by the men and a Ukrainian folk dance feturing the whole company. And the company will premier a new contemporary, all-male ballet called Sometimes, Always.

Tickets for the performance are $25 general admission, $10 for students. The show will be available to watch or 48 hours after the premiere.
