If Lent Friday fish fries are your thing, you can probably find carryout fish dinners at area churches. But if you’re not religious and just have a craving for this tradition, Tremont’s Prosperity Social Club is once again offering its seasonal Fish Fries for the 15th year.
The menu features hand-battered or panko herb-crusted haddock with coleslaw, tartar sauce, and mac and cheese.
“This all might have started as a religious penitence, but hand-battered whitefish paired with creamy mac-and-cheese is a comforting indulgence that many people now look forward to,” Prosperity owner Bonnie Flinner says. She also recommends the signature sangria or Sibling Revelry Brewing’s Gotta Haddock lager, canned especially for Prosperity; both are available to go.
Prosperity will be opening for lunch on Fridays for an extended window to enjoy these meals, either for pre-ordered curbside pick-up or to dine in. Flinner warns that reservations and arriving on time, especially for dinner, is even more essential at this time to allow for socially distanced seating. Call 216-937-1938. Also be warned: to allow the kitchen focus on the fish fry, Friday’s menu during Lent will be more limited.
