Pianist Jackie Warren’s reputation has spread throughout Cleveland’s music community. She’s especially known for her devotion to Latin jazz as a regular performer with band leader Sammy DeLeon in various configurations. But she also plays straight jazz with her own trio and performs solo as well. Originally from Colorado, she came to northeast Ohio to attend Oberlin where she got her degree in both jazz and classical performance, and later added a master’s in classical piano from Cleveland State University. And the infectious joy in her performances adds to their appeal.
She’ll perform solo, most likely mixing up some jazz, some pop and some Latin music, when she kicks off the spring series of Brownbag Concerts at Trinity Cathedral this week. They’re still virtual for now, so tune in wherever you are.
The livestream link will be on Trinity’s Facebook page 15 minutes before performance time.
