The Cleveland Ballet has announced that, in the name of caution and the safety of its patrons, it’s cancelling their performances of Dance Me to the End of Love and Alice, scheduled to take place at Playhouse Square in May.
But the company isn’t letting that pandemic-driven setback get them down. It’s already working with Playhouse Square to plan its 2021-22 season, which will include the full-scale version of The Nutcracker it wasn’t able to do this past year, along with a company premiere.
It’s also moving forward with scheduling performances for the spring and summer at the outdoor locations that have become favorites with its audiences, including ThornCreek Winery and Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens. It’s working on new pieces, including a re-imagined version of Alice, to show off the talents of its 22-member company (plus six interns) from 10 countries in beautiful settings. Look for more specific announcements as spring gets closer.
