Last June, CoolCleveland was onsite when the iconic sign at Old Fashion Hot Dogs at West 41st and Lorain was taken down and moved a few doors east to vintage/collectibles shop All Things for You, where it was ensconced in a front window.
The beloved west side eatery opened in 1928 at Hot Dog Inn and was renamed Old Fashion Hot Dog when the Sorma family bought it in 1987. While the immediate cause of the closure was the pandemic, the property’s landlords had already indicated their intention to develop the property.
“We wanted to preserve a piece of this community’s history,” said Tim Yanko, one of All Things for You’s co-owner. “Fans will be able to stop in, see the sign and share their frankfurter-and-cheese-fries-fueled stories with us.” They can even see bar stools and other mementos from the old Hot Dog Inn.
Now All Things for You as created a full line of Old Fashion Hot dog merch for nostalgic Clevelanders, including shirts, glasses, mugs, stickers and magnets. Go here to have a look or order a piece of old Cleveland.
