Sat 12/12-Sun 12/20
The annual Light Up Lakewood celebration will indeed be back for the 13th year, but it won’t feature jam-packed street crowds watching a parade and fireworks and mingling with vendors, food trucks and Santa Claus.
Presenter LakewoodAlive says it’s “creatively reimagined” the celebration, which will happen virtually starting Saturday December 12 and running through Sunday December 20, with new events debuting @ 7pm on Facebook and Instagram on each of the nine days.
It starts with the lighting ceremony and a mini-parade with Santa, the Grinch and Buddy the Elf, among others. Subsequent days will offer such events as a finger puppet story time (12/13), a craft mini-workshop (12/14), a story time looking at holiday traditions (12/15), a how-t holiday dessert session (12/16), a “Why I Love Lakewood” 4th grader essay reading (12/17), a holiday shopping showcase with local small businesses (12/18), a holiday music program (12/19) and a LakewoodAlive Gratitude feature in which staff will offer their thanks to the community (12/20).
