We’re less than a month away from New Year’s Eve, and hopefully you’ll stay home this year and avoid big parties, or even small house gatherings, if you want to see NEXT New Year’s Eve.
But it doesn’t have to be grim. You don’t have to dress up, spend money on a plastic cup of champagne and a paper hat, drive around in the dark watching out for drunks, or having to deal with your own drunk friends. You can kick back and relax — and enjoy a special meal at home. You don’t even have to cook. Some of the members of Cleveland Independents — locally owned restaurants — are offering the first ever “No-Need-To-Leave-Home New Year’s Eve To Go” dinners.
Yes, some will be open for dine-in, which isn’t all that safe. But many are offering special dinners for two or four, or complete takeout menus. Some are even offering cocktails and wines to go as well.
“Our members are committed to providing healthy alternatives for New Year’s Eve, says Myra Orenstein, acting executive director of Cleveland Independents. “Those restaurants that are open for in-restaurant dining will be fully compliant with state guidelines. The participants in this promotion want everyone to be aware that they don’t have to forego celebrating with a great meal and drinks. Celebrating at home can be just as festive.”
Yes, it can. Find a list of the participating restaurants and their menus at clevelandindependentsnye.com. And plan ahead to get your order in!
