Bicyclists Ride to Fight Hunger at Cranksgiving

Due to the surge in COVID-19 infectious, this event has been cancelled. Bike Cleveland urges you to donate what you would have spent to the Cleveland Hunger Network.

Sat 11/21 @ 10AM-1PM

Each year for what they dub “Cranksgiving,” bike riders gather to get a map of grocery stores and then ride to about four of them to purchase some of the food items from their list. The food is then donated to feed hungry people in the community for the Thanksgiving holiday.

This year will be a little different. There won’t any big group photo at the end. Due to the pandemic, cyclists will spread out to several locations. Bike Cleveland, Bike Parma, Bike Lakewood, Bike Brecksville and the Heights Bicycle Coalition will all be hosting locations, so you can pick one near you.

The biking and shopping will remain the same. Bike rides of all ages and skill levels can participate, but everything you buy must be carried by bike in a basket, bag or trailer. Rides average 15 miles, and while it’s free to participate, riders generally spend about $15 at the stores and are welcome to spend more. If you want to bring food items from home, they’ll be gratefully accepted too.

Pick your staging location and register to ride here.
