Over a month ago I went way out on a limb and predicted that tRump would lose to Joe Biden by over 20 percentage points. And while I was widely ridiculed at the time, it appears now as if the orange-faced monster is doing his level best to make me out to be some kind of political genius.
What I knew at the time was something I’d known for years: That when suckers fall behind, they begin to squirm and struggle, akin to a body in quicksand. But the harder they struggle, the deeper they sink. Additionally, when someone begins to feel as if their back is against the wall — especially someone who has never tasted defeat and has had everything in the world handed to him on a silver platter his entire life — they are going to begin to make critical errors, as we are now witnessing.
Pressure, my friend, is a bitch.
While I do believe the margin of Biden’s victory will be so substantial that clown-face won’t be able to even begin to try to force the election outcome to the Supreme Court, it doesn’t mean that we are in any way out of the woods once he and his cronies clear out of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. In fact, we’re just going to be at the beginning of a “new birth of freedom” — and as any woman can tell you but any man can only guess at, giving birth is a painful process.
Now that the nightmare is all but over it’s easy to say the obvious: We true Americans needed this four years of conman-led madness: now we know without a doubt what kind of country we really live in. While we long suspected that creepy-crawler racists were hiding under rocks all around the country, we really didn’t know the extent — the actual number — to which haters existed in this country. Now we do.
But, as we are about to discover, it’s better to know how many enemies of progress — especially of the racial variety — exist than to fool ourselves in regards to their numbers, dedication and outright wickedness. Again, now we do.
Of course they will soon crawl back under the rocks which formerly covered their hateful and cowardly deeds, but not before staging one last dramatic stand by threatening violence — which is always the default position of the bully and the coward. So twisted are they in their thinking, they’re going to make the mistake of fooling themselves into believing that law enforcement and the military will join them in rising up to stage an armed rebellion that leads to a coup d’état.
While there are no doubt a goodly percentage of law enforcement and military in America who are to the right of Attila the Hun, when these dudes think about their decent paychecks, excellent benefits and solid retirement plans, and try to tell their wives they are planning to give that all up to run off into the woods and join some wacky-assed militia, well, you know what their wives — for the most part — are going to say. “In a pig’s ass you are, you idiot!”
So the disappointed Trumpists are going to circle their wagons in another manner. As Atlantic Magazine senior editor Adrianne LaFrance recently penned in an illuminating article, they’re going to start a new religion. That’s what losers do when they feel they cannot control the world around them.
QAnon, which currently is an amalgamation of pea-brained conspiracy theorists, is going to blossom into a full-blown religious movement made up of assorted disgruntled fruitcakes, wingnuts and wannabes. Centuries ago, their forebears invented the artificial concept of “race” for financial gain and their love of their whiteness soon trumped their love of Christianity, and now that same love of whiteness trumps their love of democracy.
The cornerstone of this new religion will be their confused belief in their own whiteness being superior to anything else in heaven or on earth and the preservation of the so-called “Aryan race.” They have misread Scripture, misunderstood science, and now they are about to dedicate their lives to preserving something that doesn’t even exist: The artificial notion of race.
This is a church that will probably last for a few hundred years, so deeply engrained and embedded is their hatred of “the other.” But, similar to every other belief system based on hatreds and the false notion of superiority, the Church of Everlasting Whiteness will not stand the test of time; they can believe it to be everlasting all they care to, but rest assured that it won’t last forever.
“The Arc of the Moral Universe is long … but [as we are now witnessing] it bends toward Justice.” Indeed.

i’m a Cleveland native who left the city at age 18. i’ve returned annually to visit friends and family, but this visit i stayed for 3 weeks, renting an apartment and a car and exploring neighborhoods as well as spending time with my people. it’s been wonderful.
to prepare for this time, i read a lot of books and articles and websites about the Cleveland of today, and i subscribed to various local email lists. i’m writing today to say i’ve really enjoyed reading your columns in CoolWater Cleveland.
