PHOTOSTREAM: DayGlo Show at Waterloo Arts by Dru Thompson

09.042020 DayGlo Show

Dark. Is what describes most things, including art galleries since the pandemic.

Waterloo Arts has remained closed — and dark — since March.   But, like magic, the gallery can be seen with glows of brilliant color and artwork, courtesy of Cleveland-based company, DayGlo.  For the 8th year, Waterloo Arts partners with the DayGlo Color Corp and over 30 artists to create a one of a kind art experience (complete with 3D glasses).  This year’s event, The Magic of Day Glo, was a fitting return for Waterloo Arts’ reopening on September 4th.

“It was nice to re-open the gallery with this exhibit because it’s one that people look forward to each year.  Even though we didn’t have our big opening bash, I knew the artists would still have a good viewing of their work,”  says executive director Amy Callahan. “I was glad we were able to work out a safe way to have the gallery exhibit because it is so much more satisfying to see the work in person. ”

Highlights of this year’s show include submissions from international artists as well as exclusive thank-you gifts by illustrator Anthony Zart and Apparel Brand, Rocket E3, to commemorate the 2020 DayGlo show.

The show runs now through September 24th at Waterloo Arts (15605 Waterloo, Cleveland, Ohio 44110).  Tickets are free, but reservations are required. For tickets and more info, visit:  www.waterlooarts. Donations can be added when ordering tickets and proceeds go  directly to fund Waterloo Arts’ programming. Masks are required while in the gallery space with social distancing guidelines in effect.

Let’s get glowing,

Dru
