Until late this summer, Ingenuity was one of the last big festival-type events on the calendar — until they bowed to the inevitable. They just weren’t able to figure out how to make it work.
But ingenuity didn’t quit them entirely. Instead they have come up with Virtually INgenious presented by the Virtual Music Fest live on Facebook for 48 hours. It’s an offshoot of a project called 48 Hour Virtual Music Fest CLE, created by local musician Megan Stepka (who has been an active participant in the Ingenuity festival) last spring to give herself and her fellow musicians a performance outlet.
For Virtually INgenious, performers, artists and creators of all types including Ingenuity’s own Ingeneers and Ignite! Impact Award winners, will join the musicians — singer/songwriters, bands and offbeat sonic projects — to share the projects they’re been working on, with more than 48 presenters. They’re also promising “special guests and surprise headliners.”
You’ll also get to see snapshots of #VoicesofCLE, hear from Ingenuity sponsors and listen in on a couple of panel discussions. In the works are a panel of makers and artists being put together by Ash O’Connor, whose new project MadeCleveland provides a directory and clearing house for small businesses and entrepreneurs in the creative economy, and a Save Our Stages panel featuring area venue owners talking about what they need to survive the pandemic.
It won’t be quite like being there, but it should be fun, and you don’t have to get dressed and drive anywhere. Join the Facebook Live page here.
