Zoom Panel Explores Behind-the-Scenes Jobs in the Music Industry

Fri 8/21 @ 6PM

With so much information about available online now about who’s who and what’s what in the music business, we’re not seeing quite a many of those “How to Make it in the Music Industry” panels that were once all the rage. But hearing from people who have already navigated the shoals can be helpful.

So Cleveland’s It’s A Jinx Records and Akron-based arts education nonprofit iN Education’s Battle of The Teal are offering a “Careers In The Music Industry” Zoom panel discussion. It’ll feature experienced speakers talking about careers in support fields that keep musicians afloat: jobs in concert venues and retail, sound technicians, designers and record manufacturers. They include Heath Gmucs of specialty label Wax Mage Records, Dave Polster of audio mastering facility Well Made Music and Wallace Settles of the Grog Shop.

Sponsor iN Education is an Akron education nonprofit that connects young people with information and guidance about careers in the arts. It’s A Jinx is a Cleveland-based label/distro for both music and zines. You can register here; they’re asking for a $10 donation to help them raise money through ioby.com. The audio will be rebroadcast on WRUW-FM 91.1 FM following the dicussion.
