Fairy gardens have been growing in popularity — tiny outdoor rooms decorated with tiny plants and miniature furniture, buildings and other décor.
Holden Arboretum has come up with its own variation on this trend called Fairy Doors. For the next month, visitors will be able to seek out seven woodland and garden habitats created by local seven artists/artist teams featuring 30 handcrafted Fairy Doors. Artists include Tracey Gardner, Jane Baeslach & Coletta Baeslach Arian, Erin Canales, Bette & Robb Durr, Beth Lynne Gregerson, Amanda Nyx and Tammy Shella.
Grab a map at the Gatehouse and go on your own scavenger hunt of the grounds, or use the interactive mobile phone app, which will provide additional information about the plants and trees and the story behind each fairy home.
Fairy Doors is included in the $15 general admission ($10 for kids 3-12). It’s open Tuesday-Sunday @ 9am-5pm. Advance reservations are required Go here holdenarb.org or call 440.946.4400. The Murch Canopy Walk and Kalberer Emergent Tower are alos included with admission and are open from 10am-5pm.
