One of the types of businesses people are expressing the most reluctance to return to are those that involve physical activity, such as gyms, dance classes and yoga studios. So in the coming months we’re likely to hear a lot more news like that shared by Marcia Camino of Lakewood’s Pink Lotus Yoga.
She says, “I am writing with some sadness in my heart to announce that I am closing the studio on Detroit, effective immediately. It was a difficult decision to make but one I am confident will open new doors for us all as we navigate our lives in yoga. As a person who helped make the studio space beautiful and bright by your practice there, know your feelings are held in hands and in the arms of the community at large.”
But, she says, Pink Lotus will continue to offer the virtual classes it’s held since mid-March, adding more classes and hoping to add some in-person outdoor classes this summer if it feels safe. A $50 monthly membership gets unlimited access to live classes, Zoom practices, workshops, recorded classes and soon, a library of yoga study courses.
Camino adds, “I will be at the studio often in the month of June emptying out the space. To that end, stay tuned for an email in the coming weeks that will invite you to claim some yoga props you’d like to borrow (no cost to you) and other items I am offering up. In this forthcoming email, I will provide a schedule for when you can come by the studio to claim your new things.”
