About a decade ago, trumpeter/vocalist/composer Bria Skonberg, already an experienced professional musician, packed up her horn and moved from the off-the-beaten-path city of Chilliwack in British Columbia to New York with its greater opportunities to perform, network, collaborate and get recognized.
The versatile player, whose musical interests range from traditional to modern pop, found many such opportunities. She’s performed with U2 and the Dave Matthews Band, co-founded/co-directs the New York Hot Jazz Camp, does outreach for Jazz at Lincoln Center, and has won a slew of awards.
Among the people she hooked up with in New York there is Cleveland native and fellow trumpet player Dominick Farinacci who settled there after going to Juilliard. She’ll be performing with him as part of his online Songbook Watch Party concert series. Tickets are $15.
