Sun 4/19-Sat 4/25
We may all be stuck in the house but outside, trees are growing and just starting to leaf out. The Cleveland Tree Coalition, formed to restore Cleveland’s once dense and now devastated tree canopy that earned it the nickname “Forest City,” will still be hosting its 4th annual Arbor Day celebration. It’s just doing it a little differently.
It launched on Sun April 19 with a welcoming video featuring Cleveland councilman and climate leader Matt Zone, Sandra Albro of Holden Forests & Gardens. Lizzie Sords of the Western Reserve Land Conservancy and some guy dressed as a tree doing weird dance moves in the background. You can watch that here.
Events culminate on Arbor Day — Friday April 24 — will a 9am video greeting from Mayor Frank Jackson, the launch of Holden Forests & Gardens toolkit at 10am, a land conservancy Tree Walk at noon, and a reading of the book Tree Lady, courtesy of the Cleveland Public Library, at 1pm.
Go here for the week’s schedule.
