Three Avant-Garde Musicians Embark Upon Rare Collaborative Tour

UPDATE:

This show has been cancelled.

Sat 3/14 @ 8PM

Adventurous music lovers will want to make their way to the Transformer Station, often the site of offbeat and avant-garde concerts, to experience the coming together of three major figures in the international experimental/improvisational music scene.

Reeds player Ken Vandermark, a key figure in Chicago’s avant-garde music scene, and New York-based trumpeter Nate Wooley have been collaborating for seven years, releasing three albums and touring the U.S. and Europe. And while both have recorded and performed with British drummer Laul Pytton, including on the 2012 double CD The Nows, Pytton, a key figure in expanding the way drums were used in improvisational music in the ’60s and ’70s, doesn’t perform in the U.S. that much. They’re embarking on a short series of Midwestern appearances that are sure to be memorable to fans of this sort of open-ended, exploratory music.

Tickets are $20.
