Fri 3/6 @ 8PM
Argentinean composer Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992) expanded the boundaries of traditional tango music, creating a newer and more elastic version of the genre with an appeal that’s crossed generations and continues to engage musicians and listeners nearly 30 years after his death.
The Cleveland-based Oblivion Project has been carrying on his legacy since it formed to do so in 2003. Over the years it’s collaborated with many other musicians to explore the possibilities inherent in Piazzolla’s “nuevo tango” sound. This week the ensembles six musicians will be joining with New York-based classically trained vocalist Carla Canales to interpret some of Piazzolla’s music, along with other pieces from South America at the BOP STOP.
Admission is $20.
