Fri 2/21 @ 5-9PM
While artist Pamela Dodds isn’t from Cleveland and isn’t currently living in Cleveland, her work, which includes paintings, drawings and prints, is known to local art aficionados. She’s actually Canadian and currently lives in Toronto. But when she lived in Cleveland in the 00s, she showed her work at the William Busta Gallery, Jean Brandt Gallery and Asterisk Gallery in Tremont.
Those who followed her then and have been wondering what she’s been up to will have a chance to see her work when the Suite 215 Gallery at 78th Street Studios mounts her first Cleveland show in five years, opening during Third Friday, 2/21.
Something I Want to Tell You — Big Paintings by Pamela Dodds will feature life-sized paintings, which, she says address some of the most pressing socio-political issues of our time, including structural segregation in America’s urban centers, domestic violence and sexuality. The resulting works are reflections on the quiet, private struggles that everyone experiences, often as momentous challenges.
The show will be on view through Fri 4/17.
