Art Museum MIX Party Celebrates Love and Cupid

Fri 2/7 @ 6PM

With Valentine’s Day coming up, the idea of making “Cupid” the theme of this month’s MIX adult party at the Cleveland Museum of Art is a no-brainer, especially given how many works in the museum’s collection fit this theme. There is, for instance, its famous painting “Cupid and Psyche” by 18th/19th century French artist Jacques-Louis Davis, depicting a lascivious Cupid groping a sleeping Psyche, a work that might be disturbing if it weren’t so comical. The evening will include a tour through some of the works in the collection with intriguing love stories behind them.

In addition, it’s the opening day of the new photography show PROOF: Photography in the Era of the Contact Sheet, so you can be one of the first to check that out. As usual, there’s music for dancing, a cash bar and food available in Provenance Café until 8:30pm.

Of course, as usual, MIX features DJ music for dancing, a cash bar and food available in Provenance Café until 8:30pm.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door. CMA members are free.
