Festival of International Short Films Screens at Kent Stage

Standing Rock Cultural Arts’ International Shorts Festival in Kent is now in its 17th year. As in the past, you can expect to see films of all types — abstract and linear, animated, documentary, narrative, music videos, comedy and more, with films from Northeast Ohio and overseas.

The screening starts close to home, with a short called “Community Art in Kent” by Chelsea Orlando, before its first segment featuring films from around the world. Fifteen films will be screened for the audience as well as a jury to choose a winner.

Following that, last year’s People’s Choice Winner, “The Spirit Seam” by Ashley Gerst will be shown, with other films chosen by her. as well as other shorts of her choosing. Finally, the evening wraps up with “Espiral” by Susana Weingarten, who formerly performed with Cleveland’s Evert Dance Company in Cleveland.

The screening takes place at the Kent Stage. General admission is $10; students and seniors are $5.
