Cleveland polymath R.A. Washington has done many things in his creative lifetime. He’s been a journalist; he’s published poetry, fiction and nonfiction. He’s a musician who co-founded the band Mourning [A] BLKstar, for which he still composed music. And his project Cleveland Tapes is celebrating its 20th anniversary, with a long list of intriguing and boundary-pushing projects in its catalog.

To mark that anniversary Cleveland Tapes presents the Dozens 2, taking place at the BOP STOP. He’ll be leading a new group of a dozen Ohio musicians through two sets of improvised pieces, the culmination of a year’s worth of work. It’s ambitious too, described as “a nod to the rhetorical history of black culture and its affect on the entire United States and the world.”

That’s lot for a mere $10 admission!
