PHOTOSTREAM: Burlesque and Drag Benefit by Anastasia Pantsios

12.29.2019 Benefit for Bella's Mom

Sun 12/28

Bella Sin has truly earned the title of Cleveland’s burlesque queen. She founded her troupe Cleveland Burlesque (formerly Le Femme Mystique) 16 years ago at the start of the neo-burlesque boom; it’s outlasted many local troupes that have come and gone since then. Ten years ago she founded the Ohio Burlesque Fest (taking place in early August) which has grown into a three-day juggernaut, attracting performers from across America and abroad. And she herself is one of the area’s stellar performers and burlesque instructors.

So when she revealed that her beloved mother, who has been battling cancer for seven years, was in need of help, the local burlesque and drag communities rallied around her, putting on a benefit performance at the Beachland Ballroom that was packed with talent from both those communities. Businesses and friends donated prizes for raffles to raise still more money. Lots of tears were shed, mostly by the grateful Bella.
