If there’s one thing to know about CoolCleveland.com, it’s that we’re animal lovers. So we’re really excited to learn about some new additions to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo: an Amur tiger and two Mexican grey wolves.
The four-year-old female tiger Zoya comes from Denmark’s Odense Zoo and will be slowly introduced to the two male tigers, Hector and Klechka, who live in the zoo’s Rosebrough Tiger Passage. That exhibit, which opened in 2016, features four connected habitats that give the tigers a stimulating environment while allowing visitors to observe them closely.
The young female wolf sisters, Meraki and Sarra, born in 2018, are now living in Wilderness Trek, bringing the zoo’s grey wolf pack to five individuals. They came from the Endangered Wolf Center in Missouri, which focuses on caring for species such as the Mexican grey wolf, which disappeared from the U.S. in the ’70s but is slowly starting to reappear near the New Mexico and Arizona borders.
A stop at Wilderness Trek gives winter visitors the chance to see other animals that revel in the cold including reindeer, bears, sea lions, and snow and Amur leopards.
The zoo is open seven days a week from 10am-5pm. Tickets are $16.95 for adults, $14.95 for seniors, and $12.95 for kids 2-11. But go on a Monday when Cuyahoga County residents get in for free!
