Sat 10/12 @ 1-3PM
Kerry Davis and his wife Betty C. Davis, although not of vast wealth (he was a postman, she a TV producer), built a world-class art collection, focusing on Africa-American artists. Selections from that collection are currently on view at the Artists Archives of the Western Reserve, in SeenUNseen, along with work from contemporary African-American artists from this region. The show is on view through Sat 11/6.
Davis, who is from Atlanta, will be in town to give an illustrated lecture at Artists Archives gallery on why they created their collection and how they chose what they bought. He’ll talk about how they went from casually choosing pieces to enhance their home to methodically building a collection that tells a story.
It’s free but seating is limited so make a reservation here.
