Akron Center for Art, Music & Performance Celebrates First Anniversary with Eclectic Open Mic

Sat 9/7 @ 9PM

The Akron Center for Art, Music & Performance, a collaborative space for performing artists, is celebrating its one-year anniversary with the long-running “anything goes” open mic the Electric Pressure Cooker Cabaret, which now takes place at the Center monthly on the first Saturday.

The Wandering Aesthetics and emcees Mopi Dykk host this night of pretty much whatever you want to get up and do — music, spoken word, comedy, dance, drama, gymnastics, storytelling, action painting, it’s up to you. Some musical instruments are available, along with lighting and a sound system. All ages are welcome, under 18 with an adult.

“The #EPCooker is not just an open mic,” they assert. “It is an open and welcoming community of artists and advocates. It is also a great networking event, a great place to improve stage presence and a great place to develop as an artist.”

It’s a $5 suggested donation. Performers can pre-register for a slot online at epcooker.com or by calling/texting 330.612.3090, or come on down to sign up starting at 8pm. Water, soft drinks, tea, coffee, wine and beer are available for purchase, but you may also bring your own food and drink.
