The Howlin’ Brothers Return to Riverdog Barn with a New Album

Fri 8/9 @ 7:30PM

The Howlin’ Brothers, an unrelated trio from Nashville featuring Dan Swan on upright bass, Jared Green on guitar and harmonica, and Ian Craft on fiddle, mandolin and banjo, play old-time country blues and bluegrass. Their high-energy acoustic sets feature both traditional tunes and their own compositions written in a similar style. Surprisingly, they didn’t originate in the south but rather in Ithaca, NY.

Since forming in 2003, they’ve released 10 recordings of various types, mostly recently their new one, Still Howlin’, which they’re currently on the road sharing with fans. That tour brings them to Oberlin’s Riverdog Barn, where they’ll perform for the fourth time.

It may not be the perfect fit for this show, but it’s also Hippie Night at the Dog. In honor of the 50th anniversary of Woodstock, they’re inviting people to come dressed as hippies and they will have a garland-making area where you can make a free headpiece and sport some flowers in your hair.

It’s $17 at the gate, $5 for kids and full time students with ID. Lorenzo’s pizza will be there but you are welcome to bring a picnic basket and cooler.
