It must be the season for nighttime nature parties because they are happening a park districts and nature centers across northeast Ohio. Lake Metroparks Penitentiary Glen Reservation, for instance, is holding a Superstar Party, revolving around the nighttime sky.
It’s just in time for the Perseid shower, a stream of particle debris in the wake of a comet that’s visible during the summer and usually peaks the second week of August. Visitors can see the Perseid shower and explore the nighttime sky through telescopes. There’ll also be presentations by astronomers, guided hikes, planetarium shows, games, crafts and contests for kids, wild animal shows and miniature train rides (you must register for these in advance to get a time slot).
There’ll also be snacks and soda available for purchase and the Nature Store will be open, selling special space-related merchandise.
