Thu 8/15
Every Clevelander knows “The Feast.” The 121-year-old tradition fills Little Italy with four days of festivities around the religious rite of the Feast of the Assumption on August 15, marking the assumption of the Holy Mother Mary into heaven. On the feast day itself, which this year opened the festival, a procession wends through the neighborhood, with priests, floats, first communicants, costumed individuals representing the various regions of Italy, a marching band and more.
After it traversed side streets and Mayfield Road, Bishop Nelson Perez offered a few words from the stairs of Holy Rosary Church and then, the eating began in earnest!
