Ingenuity’s Ignite! Offers Tips for Creative Freelancers

Wed 8/7 @ 6:30PM

The so-called “gig economy” — what used to be referred to as “freelancing” — can be very frustrating, as well insecure. You spend half your working hours looking for work, another half doing the work and half trying to get paid (yes, that’s more than fulltime — and often, you’re never sure when you will get paid or if you’ll find enough work to pay your bills.

But if you’re a creative person — a musician, an artist, a vendor of handmade goods, a theater person — there can be real joy in spending time doing what you love. But how to juggle them joy and the demands?

That’s the subject of Ingenuity’s next Ignite! program for creative entrepreneurs. The free panel discussion with four local women will cover subjects such as contracts, promotion and finance. There’s also beer.

It takes place at the Ingenuity Space in the Hamilton Collaborative. There’s a suggested $10 donation but no one is turned away.
