Thu 7/11-Sun 7/14
It seems like every few years Cleveland gets a visitation from Tall Ships. You may ask yourself, “What are those?” Well, they’re literally TALL ships, restored replicas of sailing ships that once plied the oceans.
The four-day Tall Ships Festival offers opportunities to learn about 11 of these replica ships from the U.S., Canada and New Zealand, and how they work, tour them, and even sail on them. They’ll be docked at a festival village just north of the Browns stadium.
It all starts Thu 7/11 @ 4pm with the Parade of Sail and a VIP Captain’s Reception at 6pm. While the latter is a ticketed event, the parade of ships can be watched from various vantage points around downtown for free.
For the next three days, starting at 9:30am visitors to the festival village can enjoy food; beverages; vendors; live performances by bands such as Cats on Holiday, the Vindys and the Sellouts, as well as Asian Lantern Festival performers including acrobats, dancers and martial arts experts; a rock climbing wall; a “slime making station;” face painting; crafts; magicians; and educational programs such as the “Ask the Captains” forums.
Daily festival admission is $15; $13 for seniors, veterans and active military; $10 for ages 5-14.
