Wed 8/7 @ 9PM
The Cleveland Orchestra’s annual Star-Spangled Spectacular concert used to be a regular feature at Public Square right around the week of July 4. But recently it’s bounced around both its location and its date, thanks to competing events.
This year it’s back on the Mall B but more than a month after the mid-summer holiday, thanks to the baseball All-Star Game. There guest conductor Loras John Schissel, long-time director of the Blossom Festival Band, will led the orchestra in a program of classical “greatest hits” and favorite patriotic songs.
Pre-concert activities start at 6pm with a video presentation and performances by local and region groups. There will be food vendors onsite as well. In case of bad weather, the concert will be moved inside to Public Hall on a general admission basis.
The concert is free; it will also be broadcast live on 90.3 WCPN and WCLV 104.9FM, and live-streamed on ideastream.org.
