Fri 8/2 @ 6-10PM
This week the Cleveland Museum of Art celebrates the opening of the first work it’s commissioned for the Ames Family Atrium. Titled Ámà: The Gathering Place, Nigerian artist Emeka Ogboh created an immersive site-specific installation that blends sculpture, textiles and sound.
It will make its debut at this month’s MIX evening, where Ogboh himself will spin a set of Afropop music, inspired by the sounds of his native Lagos. Dancers and drummers from the Djapo Cultural Arts Institute will perform, and Sankofa Fine Art Plus will lead arts activities.
And since it’s summer, the party will spill out of the Atrium onto the South Terrace. Food and drinks will be available for purchase, and the galleries are open to tour.
Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 day of event.
