Wade Oval Wednesday Celebrates Juneteenth & Xtinguish Festival

Wed 6/19 @ 6-9PM

University Circle’s free Wade Oval Wednesdays, which run through August 21, will be presenting two special performances on Wed 6/19 in addition to the scheduled bad, Cleveland jump blues/swing/early rock & roll ensemble Blue Lunch.

In honor of Juneteenth, the celebration of emancipation from slavery, local West African drum and dance wellness education ensemble Tam Tam Magic, founded and led by master drummer Papa Assane M’baye from Senagal, and African drumming group Mama Fasi & Voices of the Village, will also perform. And the West Creek Conservancy will be on hand as part of the Xtinguish Festival with information on the last Cuyahoga River fire in 1969 and how it helped to create the momentum that led to the Clean water Act.

WOW is free and open to all. There’s plenty to eat and activities for all ages. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy a summer evening.
