Memorial Day is a few weeks down the road. But if you’re impatient for summer to begin, head out to northeast Ohio’s historic resort town Geneva-on-the-Lake, which officially starts its season this weekend with its 3rd annual kick-off parade.
The parade steps off at Indian Creek and makes its way down the strip, past all the souvenir shops, arcades, and hot dog and pizza emporiums, to end up at Whip-n-Dip. It’s followed by a 150th anniversary commemoration at Rec Park. Bring the family and check out all there is to do, ranging from the traditional mini-golf courses to the new zipline and canopy tours. If you’re all adults, there’s plenty of late-night music, and wineries and breweries to hang out at. Careful with all that junk food though — you could get sick!
